FA Afternoon Delight
2 Year Old Gallery
Charlie had just turned 2 years old in April and May of 2004 photos, in which he was still fuzzy (and muddy). He was also in the middle of a growth spurt last Spring. Should finish at about 15.2+hh when fully mature. Check out his large, powerful hindquarter and his nice, wide chest! This boy can really haul a#@!
He is a true “blue-black”—His coat does get a bit sunburned being out almost 24/7, but he doesn’t fade like many blacks. And he was born black—much blacker in person than he appears in his foal photos.
I was hoping for him to be Country English like his sire, but it looks like he is more Sport Horse/Western, like his dam. Won’t know until he finishes growing. Although, when I put him back in with his mares (he had been in the adjacent paddock for 2 weeks), he puffed up and did this amazing animated trot—high stepping and it seemed like he was suspended in mid-air with each step—I almost cried he was so beautiful. He was showing off for his girls. I wish I had the video camera with me.
Also, in all of Charlie’s photos, he is in pasture condition. He has never been shampooed, sweated or conditioned in any way. He’s what a healthy horse should look like.

August 2004—1st time with long reins. He did everything he was asked without an “argument.”
